The article examines Dante Alighieri’s experience of exile and its influence on his life and literary work. It explores how his banishment from Florence, rather than being merely an experience of loss, became an opportunity for inner growth and creative expression, particularly reflected in the Divine Comedy, a landmark work in the development of the Italian language. Finally, it presents Dante as a source of inspiration for contemporary humanity, whose experience invites us to face adversity with courage, find meaning in suffering, and discover new horizons of freedom, hope, and faith.
