Spiritual direction from the perspective of Jesús Antonio Gómez

Abstract

The article addresses the importance of spiritual direction in the formation of a Christian conscience. It highlights that spiritual direction is a charism of the Church, essential for those who seek a full Christian life that focuses on discerning the will of God. It is emphasized that the direction must be offered to all people, including diverse groups such as youth and religious people. Therefore, the spiritual director has the responsibility of helping to discern and form conscience, insisting that an apostolic life without prayer is meaningless. In addition, the need to have faithful spiritual directors who guide believers on their path to holiness and fidelity in the priestly ministry is mentioned. The conclusions highlight that God acts through the community and that spiritual direction contributes significantly to the ongoing formation of priests and the life of faith of all believers.
